Jett’s Marine, Inc. has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1929 by Eugene W. Jett, Sr. Originally known as “Eugene W. Jett, General Merchandise,” the business began as a multifaceted establishment, combining a sports shop, hardware store, and filling station. Fondly referred to as “Jett’s” in the Northern Neck community, it quickly became a local landmark.

Notable features of a fishing or hunting excursion included a personalized hot lunch prepared by Mrs. Jett and young Jack (John M. Jett, Sr.), with the added attraction of a pool table for entertainment during rainy days. In 1947, Jett’s expanded its offerings to include Mercury outboard motors, later incorporating a boat line to meet evolving customer needs.

Over the years, the business experienced significant growth. In 1972, it underwent incorporation and formally adopted the name Jett’s Marine and Hardware, Inc. Subsequently, in 1979, the hardware store aspect was divested, leading to the establishment of Jett’s Marine, Inc., with a dedicated focus on boat, motor, and trailer sales and service.

A pivotal moment in the company’s history occurred in 1998 when a destructive fire prompted the reconstruction of Jett’s Marine, Inc. The present facilities encompass 31,500 square feet, featuring an indoor showroom, parts counter, offices, a spacious workshop, and a rigging department.
